New Kitten: Name Reveal

45050226_265513764004934_5545939236072456192_n

Hi Friends!

I know this post is a little late and I know that I had planned on doing a name reveal via a YouTube video, but I just haven’t had time to film anything.

So I had asked you all in one of my older posts Meet Our New Kitten!, on my husband’s and my blog Laundry and Dishes, and my family for any name suggestions and I got a ton of really good ideas!

The best idea though was from one of my nephews who thought that Kitty sounded just like the peacock from the movie Up.

Up is one of my most favorite Disney movies and both my husband and I thought that was such a cute idea so without further ado: Meet our kitten Kevin!

Thanks for joining me today!

Weekend Adventures: Travel and Weddings

Hi Friends!

First I would like to start by saying I’m sorry!

I forgot to let you all know that I was leaving for a week to Tennessee for a wedding.

But I’m back now and I had a huge adventure!

Traveling Down

First I had to get up at 4 am to drive two hours to Billings to do some last-minute wedding shopping.

Then my flight to Portland, Oregon left at 3:45.

I had a nice layover and then got back on the plane to San Francisco.

I honestly was a little scared we wouldn’t be able to land because of all the California wild fires, but we landed and everything was fine.

I thought my flight would leave to Nashville, Tennessee at midnight, but I misread my ticket so I had an awful overnight layover at the airport with barely any sleep.

I finally gave up on sleep and decided to go look for coffee at around 5am.

My flight wasn’t until noon so I thought I had plenty of time to roam around and explore the airport but I got a call from the airport saying they had my bag and that I needed to come pick it up, re-check it, and go back through security.

I was a little confused and upset because I thought I had checked it all the way though to Nashville and I have never once had an airline hold my bag. But I picked it up anyway.

I went to re-check it and they charged me $25 which isn’t too bad but I’m a member of my airline and I’ve never had to pay for a bag before so I wasn’t too happy about that either.

Anyway I finally got everything sorted out and got on the plane.

Wedding Prep and The Wedding

The whole week was a whirlwind of frantic bridesmaids and groomsmen trying to put together the extravagant wedding the bride had planned.

I love the bride and would do anything for her, but by the wedding day I was exhausted from getting up at 6 am and doing wedding prep until 2 am; and I was starting to get a little snippy because I never had any time to eat.

Nonetheless, the wedding went off without a hitch!

We all ate, danced and drank our worries away until the bride and groom left and we had to take down all the decorations and clean up.

I finally got back to the hotel at around 11:30 pm, and enough time to re-pack my suitcase and take a short nap before waking up at 1:30 am to go back to the airport.

Traveling Home

The trip back was an adventure in its self.

I had booked a flight through a particular airline, but nobody was at the service counter when I arrived and the self check-in monitors were down for maintenance.

After waiting for a half hour for someone to show up, a customer service representative for a different airline asked if I needed help with anything and then told me I needed to check in with the airline that was partnered with the one I had booked my flight with.

Since my flight was booked through a partnered airline, I was told to wait in the passport verification Customer Service line and they would be able to check me in and print out my boarding pass.

By this time, I had 30 minutes left until my flight was supposed to leave. But a separate customer service representative told me to get out of the line because I could check in with my flight verification code.

Thankfully I listened to her because I was able to sprint to security, sprint to my gate and board my flight just as the last call for boarding came over the loudspeaker speaker.

Of course I zonked out and slept the whole way to Chicago, Illinois.

Since I had never been to that airport, and wasn’t given a boarding pass for my next flight, it was a bit of an adventure finding the correct gate.

But my layover was long enough that I had enough time to hit the restroom, grab a coffee and find a customer service agent to reprint my boarding pass.

My next flight took me to Seattle.

I thought I would have a long layover, but again I found myself sprinting through the airport frantically trying to find my gate because I forgot to take into consideration all the time zone changes I would fly through when I originally booked my flight.

I did make it to my gate in time and finally made it back to Billings where my husband was stuck in traffic on his way to the airport to pick me up.

After about a half hour of standing outside in the November wind, he finally got to the airport and we headed off to Sam’s Club to do a little shopping.

After that we drove the two-hour drive home, unloaded the car, fell into bed completely exhausted and kissed each other goodnight.

Daily Prompt Photo Challenge: Temporary

Hi friends!

I signed up for the WordPress Learning the Fundamentals class and today my assignment is to respond to either a daily writing prompt or a daily photo prompt.

I know the Daily Post has stoped doing daily prompts but they left up all their old ones so I just used the one from last November 8th.

Anyway I hope you like it!

I chose this picture to respond to the prompt temporary because its a flower and I know they are gorgeous in the summer but in the winter they wither away.

Thanks for joining me today!

All My Thanks November 2018: Day 7

thank you text on black and brown board

*Photo from Free WordPress Library

Hi Friends!

Today is the seventh day of All Thanks November, a challenge dedicated to having a grateful attitude everyday for a month.

Here are the rules for All Thanks November: Everyday write down something you are grateful for. It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving themed, but it does have to be thankfulness themed.

Day 7

I’m thankful that we have two cars today.

We typically drive my husband’s Jeep and use my car as a secondary vehicle. We drive it so little that talked to him about selling it on more than one occasion.

Anyway, today the starter in his Jeep went out and I am so glad he didn’t listen to me all those times I tried to talk him into selling my car.

If he had listened to me, we both would have been stranded at the house, unable to get to work or our appointments this week.

So today I am glad we have two cars and that my husband has enough good sense to not listen to me when I nag.

Thanks for joining me today!

All My Thanks November 2018: Day 6

*Photo from Free WordPress Library

Hi friends!

I know this is a day late but before I jump into today’s post I would like to give a little shout out to everyone who has followed my blog! I know there isn’t a lot, but yesterday I got a notification that Our Life in Montana officially has 10 followers! So thanks for making my day and putting a huge smile on my face!

Today is the sixth day of All Thanks November, a challenge dedicated to having a grateful attitude everyday for a month.

Here are the rules for All Thanks November: Everyday write down something you are grateful for. It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving themed, but it does have to be thankfulness themed.

Day 6

This might make me sound materialistic, but I’m thankful that my husband has a good job.

I know a lot of people say that money doesn’t solve your problems and I agree, but having some money will help with problems like monthly bills, groceries, and other essential life purchases.

So today I am thankful that my husband is such a good provider for our little family!

Thanks for joining me today!

Cooking With Me: Salmon Chowder!

Hi Friends!

Welcome to Cooking With Me! Saturday I had the most amazing Broccoli and Cheddar soup at the cutest hole in the wall Diner and it made me think about some Salmon Filet Soup that 2JustAnotherPost wrote about in their post Health In A Cup.

So of course I made some for dinner today and I am so thrilled!

Let me just link the post that inspired me to cook incase anyone is looking for an amazing lunch or dinner idea.

And before I jump into the Pinterest recipe I used, let me just say that I cook like a maniac.

I will use a recipe as a suggestion list but add in things that I think would make it better and omit things that I don’t really care for.

Ingredients

Salmon-Chowder1-jpg

Bacon
Onion
Carrot
Celery
Garlic
Flower
Milk
Corn
Salt
Pepper

*Photo from Mel’s Kitchen Cafe

Cooking Instructions

Cook as much bacon as you want. Maybe even enough to snack on while you make the rest of the chowder?

Off to a great start!

Next, wash a carrot and shred it with a cheese greater because I am a lazy cook and I don’t like to dice vegetables. You are more then welcome to peel your carrot at this time if you would like to.

At this step, you also can wash and cut your celery. I just put in as much as I wanted to eat which was kind of a lot because I got a little carried away.

Also don’t forget to chop your garlic and onion. Or if you are lazy like me, just throw in some granulated onion powder and granulated garlic powder, and it probably will taste fine…

Perfect!

Now, throw all your vegetables and bacon into a pot so they can cook for a minute or two. Its actually going to take about 5 minutes before they start to be cooked. And for sure don’t forget to grease the pot before you do this or it will all be stuck on the bottom.

Ok lets just move on.

Sprinkle a little flower into your pan and whisk or stir in your milk for one or two minutes. I think the recipe said to put in 5 cups of whatever kind of milk you currently have in the fridge and around 2 tablespoons of flower.

Wonderful!

Next I forgot to cook the salmon, so turn down the chowder to low and season your salmon with salt and pepper and throw it in the oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Don’t forget to keep stirring your chowder every once in a while to keep it from burning to the bottom of your pan. Your chowder will be a lot more successful if you just cook your salmon at the beginning.

Ok. I’m about to give up on cooking but before I do, I’m going to add in some frozen corn because I’m still a lazy cook and I obviously am not a professional, so its ok.

Whoops I also forgot to cut my salmon into about 1 inch chunks and add it to my chowder.

Great!

Now bring it up to a medium heat again and cook it all together for around 5 minutes or so until all the flavors are blended well together.

Then eat your super tasty salmon chowder!

Delicious!

Phew! Now I need to take a nap so I have enough energy to clean the kitchen..

Thanks for joining me today!

All My Thanks November 2018: Day 5

Hi Friends!

Today is the fifth day of All Thanks November, a challenge dedicated to having a grateful attitude everyday for a month.

Here are the rules for All Thanks November: Everyday write down something you are grateful for. It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving themed, but it does have to be thankfulness themed.

Day 5

I am thankful today for my family. They have given me so much support throughout the years but especially this year.

They have given me so much advice about marriage and so many kind words when I felt sad about my miscarriage.

All of my family has been there for me this year and has provided so much support for both my husband and I honestly cannot thank them enough!

Thanks for joining me today!

Weekend Adventures: Part 1

Hi Friends!

This weekend we went road hunting again.

Yesterday I went out with my husband and saw a ton of Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, and Antelope on private land!

So of course we could not shoot any of those because that would be illegal and not responsible.

But we did have a blast sight seeing and checking out all the game animals.

This morning my husband went out again, but I stayed home because I accidentally had a PMS attack and I was not going to be a fun traveling companion at all.

So I am staying home to take a nap so I can get over my attitude.

I really hope he calls me soon to say that he got one! I’m so excited!

Thanks for joining me today!

All My Thanks November 2018: Day 4

Hi Friends!

It is the forth day of All Thanks November, a challenge dedicated to having a grateful attitude everyday for a month.

Here are the rules for All Thanks November: Everyday write down something you are grateful for. It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving themed, but it does have to be thankfulness themed.

Day 4

Today I am thankful for my kitten.

Although I haven’t had him for a super long time, he has really helped me out of my post miscarriage funkiness.

I know I have been living with a cloud of sadness around my heart since August and every so often I think I’ve beaten it. But then I see someone else who has kids and then I’m heartbroken all over again.

That pattern combined with my husband working so hard with such long hours has left me pretty lonely.

So I am so thankful to have a little pet to keep me company throughout the day.

Thanks for joining me today!
